IKEI was created in 1977, on the initiative of a group of financial institutions, industrial companies and chambers of commerce from the Basque Country and Navarra.
On its inception, it was conceived by its founders in order to further the economic and social development of the region, by financing, conducting and implementing various socioeconomic and business studies of general interest.
IKEI started to undergo major changes in 1998, leading to it offering its current range of consulting services, both to the public sector (analysis, strategy, technical assistance and evaluation of public policies) and to companies (strategic management, organisation, competitiveness and organic growth, mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance operations).
The investment operation that was formally completed in 2015 was an important event in IKEI, with the firm’s board of directors and key staff taking over control of the company, acquiring 100% of the shares of its capital stock and replacing its founding members.
